John Duvauchalle, Licensed Contractor and owner of JD Equipment Services, Inc. should know. His family moved to the Hawaiian Islands in the late 1840’s. His family knows of growth, knows of culture, and knows of Aloha values. His wife, Sandy Duvauchelle, also a Licensed General Contractor and Realtor, adds her 30 years experience in construction services under a new segment of their business, called Lehua Services. This article is to tell you about them and their companies’ services. They are part of Hawai‘i’s Past, Present and Future.
“We do live on beautiful islands, we do need to carefully protect our resources as well as provide sustainable growth,” says Sandy Duvauchelle of Lehua Services. “We are perfect examples of parents whose children have moved to the mainland because they cannot find good jobs or affordable homes to buy. John and Sandy Duvauchelle know about family, combining two households with 9 children and 5 grandchildren. Now here on Maui, the Duvauchelles are also make time to be active in the building community. For over 3 years, Sandy has served on the Board of Maui Contractors Association. In this capacity she reviews all pending resolutions and laws related to the building industry and can help Maui County at large.

What is their work experience?
John was born and raised on Molokai. For over 18 years, he served in operations management at Molokai Ranch, as a foreman for a demolition contractor and heavy equipment operator for GBI.
Sandy has 27 years experience in site development projects and construction management with 15 years in Hawaii. Her project development expertise includes obtaining entitlements, civil design coordination, county, and state permitting and approvals. On Maui, before starting her own company with John, she worked for A & B Properties, Goodfellow Bros. of Hawaii and Towne Realty of Hawaii, Inc. in capacity of Project Manager and Vice President.
What type of work to they do?
